Mohammed Abufour holds a bachelor’s degree in Non-Destructive Testing from the University of Northampton, UK. He is a Lifetime Member of ASNT. Mohammed has over 40 years of experience in NDT within the oil and energy industry, where he has served in various roles, including NDT Inspector, NDT Supervisor, NDT Consultant, and Engineering Specialist.

Mohammed is an ASNT NDT Level III professional and has held certifications in UT, MT, and VT for over fifteen years, providing technical guidance to field engineers and technicians. As an avid mentor and leader, he has developed and enhanced numerous NDT techniques, reviewed procedures, and certified and qualified both company and contractor technicians. Additionally, he has managed advanced inspection services in compliance with internal and international industry codes and standards.

His journey in this industry has been defined by a series of inspection challenges, invaluable learning experiences from setbacks, and significant accomplishments. He has contributed to the development of innovative NDT techniques that exceed conventional limitations. Each milestone in his extensive career has served as a stepping stone leading to his many honors.

Mohammed served on the ASNT Board of Directors for one term, ending in 2018. He currently serves as Region Director for Area 19, which encompasses Saudi Arabia, India, UAE, Oman, Kuwait, and Iraq. He is also a committee member on ASNT Certification Management Councils, including the Industry Sector Qualification, and serves as Chairman of the ASNT Saudi Arabian Section.

Mohammed strongly believes in fostering collaboration among ASNT’s various sections in the Arabian Gulf region, India, and other NDT communities across the MENA region. He actively leverages his role as ASNT Region Director to build stronger connections between ASNT sections and other communities in the MENA region. Widely respected and well-known among NDT communities and ASNT members locally and globally, he emphasizes the importance of sharing knowledge and experience to maximize the benefits of NDT to all individuals working in the Integrity and inspection.

It is worth mentioning that his contributions to the field have been recognized with numerous awards, including the 2006 ASNT Technician of the Year Award, the 2012 Fellowship Award, the 2018 Mentoring Award, the 2022 Charles N. Sherlock Meritorious Service Award, and, most notably, The Golden Award at the StocExpo2024 Tank Storage Conference and Exhibition held in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
